Justification on Using VOIP in your Business

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Ok, so you’ve heard all the hub-bub about VoIP, and you have done some research. However, you’re still unsure as to whether or not the new technology is for you. You have a telephone in your office that works perfectly well for your clients to get in touch with you.  When you are on the go, you have your cell phone with all the added features that you could possibly want. However, when you think about it, you are paying for two separate plans, one that is for a landline, and one that is mobile. Just on a business perspective alone, wouldn’t it be more cost-effective to have a single plan that does both? Besides, most modern businesses are already utilizing the internet for research and staying in contact with clients via e-mail.

VoIP is considerably less expensive than traditional phone service. Depending on the plan that you choose to go with, and there are many different plans, you can save money each and every month. The price range of a typical business VoIP plan can vary greatly and can cost anywhere from being free to upwards of $200 a month. Generally, however, most plans for businesses typically cost anywhere between $20 and $60, depending on which service plan you decide to use. The large range in pricing for business plans is because you can get as many (or as few) features as you like, and there are tons of features available to you.

With a VoIP business plan, long distance and international calling suddenly becomes affordable. High costs in maintaining communication outside of email with clients in other states or countries can really limit the expansion of your business. But, with VoIP, you can cost effectively stay in contact with customers that you have outside of your local area. Again, depending on which VoIP service provider you go with, there will be variances in prices in making long distance or international calls. Traditionally you could count on paying over $20 a minute for an international call, but with the right business VoIP service plan it could be free.

Certain calling features become free with the use of a VoIP calling plan. There are several features that, many consider, something they can’t live without when using a phone, such as voicemail, caller ID, call conferencing and many others. With a VoIP plan, many of these features are included in your plan free of charge. So, if you like your call waiting and call forwarding and use both on a regular basis, and find that paying extra for them is quickly becoming burdensome, then going with a VoIP plan may be the best option for you.

To those owner of small business popularity of using a VoIP plan is very convenience and cost savings. Placing and receiving phone calls is done in pretty much the same fashion as with traditional phone services. With a service plan through a VoIP service provider, instead of waiting around for the end of the month to look at your bill or any calls you placed or received, you are able to access your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This allows you to track your call activity, manage voicemail and billing information and change any account information at your convenience.

The mobility of your VoIP phone number is a huge perk. Especially if your job requires that you move frequently, then the hassle of stopping service and starting service again with a new telephone company can get very tiresome. Let alone letting friends and family members that you have changed your phone number yet again. But with a internet phone service plan, your number stays the same and there is no additional charge to having to relocate and placing calls from any location.

All in all there are so many perks and advantages to using VoIP versus a tradition phone service provider. VoIP plans have it all, either you just want to combine service plans to save money or availability of the plan wherever you go.

What kind of tools needed for VoIP Service?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

If you are thinking about switching from your traditional telephone service to a business VoIP service, you may be wondering what kind of new equipment you may need to purchase. In all actuality, you probably will not need to buy anything or do anything aside from calling the chosen VoIP service provider you want to use.

A broadband or high-speed internet connection is required, whether it is a cable modem, DSL or a LAN is up to you and either will work for your VoIP. In order to make a call into a regular phone network, you will need an adapter that plugs into your internet connection and which your home phone will plug into, al good VoIP providers will supply this equipment free.
Otherwise, you might hook up an economical microphone in your computer and send voice through the computer and its global computer network—this is called a softphone.

As mentioned above you won’t need to purchase the equipment outright, most of the time the VoIP service providers will provide the needed equipment as long as you have a service plan through them. However, if you terminate the service, the equipment usually needs to be returned. However, if you want to own your own equipment, then there are several outlets available to you where you can purchase all of the equipment you need in order to make VoIP work for you.

If you are worried about whether or not you can use your computer while you are talking on the phone, then you need not worry. You must still use your PC for work or play while you are making or receiving calls and the voice class will not be exaggerated. In addition, you don’t need to worry about leaving your computer on all the time just on the off chance you will get a call. As long as your internet connection is active, you can receive calls and make calls from your internet phone.

To get started, you first need to discern which plans are available in your area. After that, you must to decide any one will best fit your needs and meet all the requirements for your business or personal use.  This decision could very well seem overwhelming at first because there are so many providers (some newer than others) that are providing VoIP phone service. However, once you start looking, you’ll also find that with all the different service plans and prices, you can quickly find one that will work for you that costs only pennies for what you are paying for traditional telephone service.

Overall, VoIP phone service is a new and novel thing when it comes to making cheap phone calls. Nevertheless, if you are tired of paying high phone prices and paying extra for every extra feature that you use, then going with a VoIP service provider is a simple decision to make. Moreover, since the equipment that you’ll need to make the switch to VoIP is provided by the VoIP service provider free of charge, then there really isn’t any reason to not make the switch. There are available options to you in addition, wherever you can buy the equipment outright, whichever is best matched to you and your plans.

Using Your WiFi Cell Phone To Make Numerous Calls For Free

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

If you have a cell phone that is WiFi ready then you may be able to make calls, text, and do a number of other things without using any minutes or being charged by the cell phone company. Many times these WiFi cell phones will have features that people will be unaware of that will allow them to connect up to a wireless network and start talking for free.

How A WiFi Cell Phone Works

The way a WiFi cell phone works is that it will connect up to a local available wireless network then use some other service to make a voice over IP conntection to the phone number.  What this means is that any calls you make will be completely free of charges from the cell phone company because you are not using their service at all.  While the quality of these WiFi cell phone calls may not be as high as what you would see using your normal cell phone, they are more then adacuate for making calls on a regular basis when you simply need to talk and do not want to pay much for it.

Voice over IP will usually have a bit more lag then a normal to cell phone connection, but for the most part this is not significant.  The key is that you need to make sure that are able to run service on your phone to use the WiFi connection to talk.  Some may not have the ability be a WiFi SIP phone, Skype or any of the other programs that are available. In addition the strength of your connection will be dependant on a couple of factors.  The first is how good the wireless is in the WiFi cell phone.  I would recommend if you intend to use your cell phone for this making absolutely sure that it has at least wireless G.  Wireless N would be great, but those phones can be incredibly expensive.

This will ensure not only that you have the bandwidth to make the call but also that you have a strong signal strength and range to make it reliable.Voice over IP does not require a huge amount of bandwidth so the more important part is that you have a nice strong single and you are not getting disconnected frequently.By getting at least a G phone you can make sure that this will be the case.

There are some things you may not be able to do with a WiFi cell phone.  The first of which is receive incoming calls.  While you will be able to get incoming Skype requests, to get an incoming call form a land line will be a problem.  It is however a great tool for making outbound calls.
